Parents are the first gurus of patience, devotion, and grit. Behind every Odissi student is a parent who makes the impossible look effortless — the drives to class practice, the rehearsals, the costumes, the encouragement and the quiet belief. It may be a student’s journey, but it is the parents who hold the light on the path. Their support is the unseen choreography in every Odissi journey.
Today, we are grateful for the incredible parent community that uplifts Guru Shradha.
If our work has touched your family, please consider supporting our mission this Giving Tuesday. Your donation helps us continue nurturing dancers, preserving tradition, and bringing Odissi to more communities. The donations are tax-deductible.

For some, Odissi is joy. For others, it’s a connection to culture, a loving community, or the chance to learn with Sujata Apa. What’s your reason to dance? Please let us know through your comments below.

At Guru Shradha, building awareness of Odissi is a heartfelt mission. Our students have stepped into communities across the Bay Area and the U.S., sharing the beauty of Guru Kelucharan Mohapatra’s legacy.
Our dancers have performed at premier platforms including the San Francisco Ethnic Dance Festival, San Francisco International Arts Festival, Drive East Festival, WestWave Festival, Diasporas Festival, PushFest Global, The Nutshell and more—bringing classical Indian dance to diverse audiences.
For over a decade, we have also stayed committed to community outreach through Bay Area Dance Week, as well as outdoor festivals, museums, libraries, and senior homes—offering lecture-demonstrations and performances since 2008.
Every stage, every space, every gathering becomes an opportunity to celebrate heritage, spark curiosity, and keep the Odissi tradition alive and thriving. Every outreach performance is a step toward expanding awareness, deepening appreciation, and celebrating the timeless grace of Odissi.
Help us spread the beauty of Odissi dance. Please donate. Donation link in the bio
Stay tuned for our Facebook fundraiser starting on Giving Tuesday - December 2nd!
